The Things About Rats And How they Live

Now you might be searching Google as you have found an un-wanted friend at your home or business address, yes  its the brown rat. commonly found in all of the UK.

You have probably seem one of these brown Rats or as there known the Norway Rat running in the garden or in might be worse than that and you have seen one of these in your home.

At either of those points its best to call in a a professional pest control company who can help with this pest control problem because Rats do carry some very nasty diseases. Wells deases, Rat bite fever, Q fever but to name a few.

All these diseases can be very harmful to human public health & this is why we take the control of rats with all seriousness.

But a common question i am asked is ” Where do rats live in the garden ? ”

If you have seen my previous posts then you will have seen a set of blogs that are building a picture of how rodents live bread and survive. My last blog had a good understanding of how rats can live in gardens.

Here is a recent video that covers the area of compost heaps, this is a common problem when it comes to rats in the Essex area. This is a live job that I had been called to deal with in early November.

As you can see from the video, lots of holes in the compost heap, this is a clear visual sign that rats are in the actual heap living.

We have recently completed the treatment to this property in Ingatestone and the customer is now “rat free thanks to Pest Control Essex.

Rats on the rise in Essex

Rats on the rise in Essex,  there is no doubt we have seen the biggest number of public and commercial pest controls call outs since my records began well over 13 years ago for rats and mice in Essex.

No doubt at all, rat control has become somewhat of a challenge to pest control ,with rodents now showing a resistance to a number of products in the South East of England.

So, as a customer asking a Pest Control company “what can you do to remove my rodent problem” there are still many products that will eliminate the Norway rat.

My motto still stand in this industry “prevention is better than cure” and I will stand by this all my working life.

In this case the Norway rat “big brown thing running around your home making loads of noise”….Had to get in somehow.

I go to call after call where client’s had another company in to resolve the rat problem & all they did was come along and throw a load of bait down, kill the thing and offer NO service or advice on stopping the next “big rat from coming along and moving in”

A Pest Controller should be offering this advice as standard, yet sadly, it’s a basic principle that gets left behind with his unused bait and the daily targets set by greediness.

Everybody at some point in their lives will come across a stray rodent, and in all cases I would strongly advise using a Professional pest company to help with this unwanted vermin removal.

If this does happen, challenge the Pest Controller to show you how they may have got into your home.

Make a point of asking for this information on the job sheet, and then this way, the Pest Controller will have to look around the property to satisfy your wishes.

Keep a note of your rodent’s activity; this will assist the Pest Controller in his job.
